HOW IT WORKS
-
The Horror Game Awards 2025, presented by Lost in Cult, airs LIVE at 11am PT/2pm ET/7pm GMT on Saturday 13th December
-
The show will be broadcast live from the Kensington Conference and Events Centre in London and streaming across all of our platforms.
-
We have convened a jury of content creators for the majority of categories, a specialist jury for our accessibility category, and a jury of developers for our Technical Achievement and Lifetime Achievement categories.
For the majority of categories, each member of the relevant jury will make a nomination for that category. Those nominations then go out to a public vote in at the start of December, with the top three comprising the finalists for that category. The jury then picks a winner from the finalists through a preference vote.
The Horror Game Awards hosts and presenters are not on the jury and do not get a vote in the process.
-
The Players’ Choice and Content Creator of the Year are awards nominated voted for entirely by the public. The process, which, sees 30 nominees whittled down to 5 finalists, began with open nominations in October.
The final round of voting for these two awards will take place alongside the public vote for all of the other awards categories.
-
Each year, we review our jury to see if we need to fill any additional roles, so there may be opportunities to join. However, there is no formal application process and it is subject to the needs of the show.
If you are interested in being involved, feel free to reach out so that we can keep you under consideration. However, this does not come with guarantees as the role is one that attracts an extremely high amount of interest.
-
Games are nominated at the discretion of the jury. The production team’s advice is that any game released since the cut off for the previous year’s awards qualifies as long as it fits the appropriate category.
This can include games released in prior years, but with a major re-release that makes it accessible to a wider player base.
Live service games with ongoing support are also eligible where they qualify for the given categories.
-
Members of our jury will consider games that they are aware of and have played.
Developers or publishers may opt to send jurors copies of their game in order to encourage them to consider it, and we make the jury public for this very reason – allowing especially smaller developers to ensure their game is seen.
However, there is no formal submission process for the awards and it remains a decision for the individual juror to take on which games they nominate based upon their own opinions and preferences.
-
The jury must make all their nominations by Wednesday 26 November ready for the official nomination announcement on Friday 28 November.
Games released too late for consideration by the jury can be considered for The Horror Game Awards 2026.

No! The Horror Game Awards does not use generative AI in anything we create. We create for ourselves or hire people to do it, on a good faith basis that no generative AI will be used.
We don't want to see generative AI in the games industry as a way to replace jobs the same way we don't want layoffs. Games are art, art is made by people, and we want the people to continue making the art we enjoy and being able to feed and house themselves in the process.
